Philippa Graham

Early Years Manager

Early Years Teacher Status

Forest School Leader Level 3

I am married to Richard and have four children Malachy, Finlay, Daisy and Sonny. I started work at Adel Pre-School in 2013 and during my time I completed Early Years Teacher Status and Level 3 Forest School, I took over as Manager in 2019 which was an exciting opportunity for me.  I am great believer in children learning through play in a home from home environment. Family is an important thing in my life and want to ensure that the Adel Pre-School Family is welcoming and open to parents so they feel part of their child’s first steps into education.

Anne-Marie Fowkes

Business Manager

I am mum of three children Harry, Izzy and Jimmy and I also have two cockapoos Willow and Woody who sometimes pay a visit to Pre-school which they love to do nearly as much as the children love seeing them! All three of my children attended Adel Pre-School and when Harry joined not long after I joined the committee and became Treasurer a role I started in 2006, when my time had come to leave pre-school with Jimmy we were unable to persuade a parent to take the roll on so I became employed in 2012, my role as grown along with the Pre-School and I now manage the financial side of the business. Although I don’t work directly with children I do love to spend the odd crazy half and hour playing with them.

Lesley Williams

Deputy Manager

Diploma in Pre-School Practice Level 3

I have been working at Adel Pre-School since 1997.  I am married to Paul and we have three grown up children Christopher, Simon and Nicola who all attended Adel Pre-School when they were 3 years old.  They are now a Mechanical Engineer, Medical Engineer and Forensic Scientist proving that Adel Pre-School was a good start to their education!  I love being a part of the Adel Pre-School family and watching how the children grown in their knowledge and confidence and knowing that I was one of the adults who helped them on their journey.

Early Years Practitioner

Diploma in Pre-School Practice Level 3

I've only been working at pre school since mid January but I'm loving every minute. I am Level 3 qualified and have worked with children in various roles including being a nanny, as an early years practitioner working in private day nurseries and most recently as a childminder. I am married with two children, I have a son Zach aged 4 and a daughter Esmae aged 2, who also attends pre school.

I am hugely passionate about being part of children's learning and development. I find children so much fun to work with and their energy and enthusiasm for play and learning is inspiring. I feel there is nothing more rewarding than observing a child learn a new skill that I have supported them to achieve.

I am quite a creative person and really enjoy doing craft activities with the children. I also like supporting outdoor play where the children can let their imaginations run wild.

"Children learn as they play. Most importantly in play children learn how to learn." - O. Fred Donaldson.

BA(Hons) with QTS

I am Nottingham born and bred and moved to Leeds in 1994 to start at Trinity & All Saints College (now Leeds Trinity University). After graduating with a degree in history with Qualified Teacher Status I started working at Holy Trinity Primary School, Cookridge.  Working there I met my BFF and because of her meddling I am now married to my husband and have two brilliant children.  Now I spend my time watching my son play cricket and my daughter dance in shows and competitions.  I enjoy weekly pilates class and one day I might even get past week 5 of couch to 5k!

Carolyn Parkin

Early Years Practitioner

CACHE Level 2 in Pre-School Practice

I have worked at Adel Pre-School since 2001, I am married with two grown up sons.  I believe a childs education is the most valuable thing in the world.  To me the most amazing thing is seeing the excitement on a childs face, when they see or have learnt something new.  Who doesn't love sitting snuggled up with a good book, one of my favourite places at pre-school is the book area.  I can often be found with my head in a book, making funny voices or looking at dinosaurs or even imagining been something else.  I feel privileged to be part of the Adel Pre-School family where we are all passionate about helping our children flourish, be happy, enjoy learning and reach their full potential.

Foundation Degree in Early Years

I have been at Adel Pre-School for 3 years now. I started as a one to one with a little boy and when he left I was offered a full time place. I have a foundation degree in early years which I graduated for in 2015. I am also currently Nanning for two children 4 days a week after pre-school, I also help with the local guide unit and have been for several years. My favourite part of my job is to get messy with the children, the messier the better, from corn flour gloop to the messy mud kitchen, the children express so much happiness. I am currently running the 2 year old activity sessions within Pre-school and am in charge of the outdoor experience.

I love getting creative with the children and experiencing new things. Glitter and glue is my go to craft as I love all things colourful and unicorn like. I feel that I am caring and nurturing and that the children enjoy coming to me for cuddles when feeling sad.
