RAINDROPS

18 MONTHS -3 YEAR OLDS

Raindrops are in our home from home environment with invitations to play and provocations to inspire curiosity and awe. 

 

They also have access to an outdoor environment at all times and are encouraged to explore, selecting resources and activities with help.

RAINBOWS

3-4 YEAR OLDS

Rainbows spend most of the time outdoors and we have two fantastic play spaces outside, with opportunities for exploring art, construction and physical development or to visit our nature area with fire pit, for forest school sessions, bug hunting and gardening using natural resources, the environment and their imagination. When the weather is extreme we do have space indoors to continue our play and learning.

OUTDOOR PLAY

THE BENEFITS

An outdoor classroom enables children to connect to the natural world which leads to open opportunities to develop creative and imaginative active learning.

It improves cognitive abilities with enriched vocabulary and to meaningfully apply concepts learned outdoors. 

​

An outdoor classroom incorporates whole body learning which leads to improved attendance, engagement and attitude towards learning. 

​

Outdoor play leads to an improved ability to self-regulate with increased social and emotional wellbeing.

​

Children that learn in an outdoor classroom have improved physical development with reductions in obesity.  Also improved mental health with reductions in anxiety and depression.
